Hi Everyone,

The Taxi Club has emerged from the dark. A completely new feel and a completely new attitude, with the focus now being on our community.
Following is a recent media release... Joanne.

- The resurrection of an Icon.
There may have been a cloud of doubt over the future of The Taxi Club for the past two years.
The Club’s committed Board of Directors, Management and Staff have striven to overcome the many obstacles and are happy to announce, “The Bitch is back”.
At a meeting of full Club members on the 27th October 2009, it was voted to change the Taxi Club’s constitution, hence the new basis for the continued existence of the Club. The decision was made to remove reference to its outdated initial registration, as a Club for the Taxi Industry.
The Taxi Club can now boast becoming the first registered club in Australia to officially base it’s membership on the GLBTI and supportive community at large.
For the first time in over 50 years of trading, the Club’s Board of Directors and Senior Management now truly reflect the membership of the Club. We have full community representation on the Board of Directors, a Transsexual Secretary Manager and diversity amongst Staff.
We are moving ahead, with recent renovations already undertaken. The Club is no longer a ‘mini-casino’, and is currently providing great entertainment and an enhanced social venue.
With further improvements planned, we are looking to the future and to further improve our services and facility. The Club will remain a club for its Members…. Run by our Community for our Community.
To get the ball rolling, we are proud to introduce our new banquet & show, “FIT FOR A QUEEN”: An Elizabethan night where Queen Elizabeth I and her knights bring her court to The Taxi Club, for a night of feasting, fun and frill-neck frocks. This show will commence on 20th November.
Further action packed entertainment is planned, with special appearances by Emily Williams, The Frocks and other special guests. There will also be shows from our regular performers, including Pandora Box, Christina Dior, Ophelia Shaft, Sandy Bottom, Kristine La Belle and many more. Also, playing the campest dance tunes, we’ll include some of Sydney’s finest DJ’s, such as Justin Scott, Jimmy Dee, Clinton and Miss Terri Guest. We are currently hosting live music with a weekly appearance from The Bourbon Boys. Every Friday night from 9pm til midnight, they will entertain you with a music repertoire spanning 50 years.
The Taxi Club is now focused on supporting our community, with the planned launch of the Taxi Community Chest. A sequence of fundraising events will commence in November, where 100% of our special event takings will go to our community charities.
The bitch is back and here to stay!
Isn’t it time you came in to get re-acquainted?

Hi Joanne

Thank you for the updates on the Taxi Club. I do enjoy seeing them and know there is always a place for girls to go. Going out for the first time for a lot of girls is a very nervious time, so knowing they will be safe when they get here is great.

Keep up the good work and keep the updates comming, although I am in QLD and I dont seem to make it to Sydney, I will have to make an effort oneday to visit.

xxx

PostPosted: Jan 13, 2010 11:27 am    Post subject: Mechanical Black's CD Launch Party - Friday 15th January. Reply with quote

!  This thread is for discussions about the Taxi club as a place to go.
Please do not post details of specific events here - they belong in the events calendar.

Hi Everyone,

Mechanical Black has released their debut album, Reborn, which is a concept album about the journey of a transgendered male to female. The album contains styles of music ranging from speed metal to soft rock which represent various states of mind during the process of transition. The album is dedicated to one of its contributors, TV personality Peter Wherrett (aka Pip) who passed away during the making of the album.
Mechanical Black are Hex (vocals, guitar), Loki (vocals, guitar) and Mel (vocals, bass) who were all born male. The band’s influences vary dramatically from song to song and the album’s mood itself changes from hard edged angry rock through to self accepting ballads. Some of these influences include the Beatles, Muse, Pink Floyd, Faith no More and Cradle of Filth. Being distinctly progressive they’ll keep you guessing from song to song.
Come and meet the band at their CD launch party in the 'New Feel' Taxi.
Friday 15th January, 2010 at 8.00pm. Bar Mystique - The Taxi Club. Free Entry!

PostPosted: Feb 12, 2010 1:33 pm    Post subject: Some Info re Mardi Gras Parade Night. Reply with quote

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to all you gals involved with the Mardi Gras parade or who maybe just kickin' around town on the night...

On the night of the parade, Saturday Feb 27th, the Taxi Club will be entry to Members only and one guest.

As the official After Party this year is the following weekend after the parade weekend, there will no doubt be more people wanting to get into local venues after the parade. Those wishing to replenish fluids after marching in the parade, rest those tired feet after just being out and about or just wanting to go all night..

There's lot's of entertainment on at the Taxi after the parade. So if you are pondering just what to do on the night, keep the option open and make sure you have a current membership.

The Club is still doing it very tough and seeks your support. Those who may not have visited the Club over the past few months, come and check out the new look venue. It's far more user friendly...

Enjoy the upcoming Mardi Gras season if you're in anyway involved. It is time to celebrate being a unique part of society Very Happy

Joanne.

Hi Joanne,

As my first outing in Sydney as Serena will be this years Mardi Gras I thought then that the Taxi Club would be a good place to go given all the positive information provided. However, I can't see on their web site a place to register and create a membership. Do I have to physically go to the club and get a membership or did I miss something on the web site? My partner and I would really would like to be able to get into the club on Mardi Gras as a place to meet other girls.

Thanks,

Serena

If I recall correctly the Taxi stops taking new membership sometime well before MardiGras night - and on the night entry is limited to members + one guest each.

So 2 days before the parade is a bit late to join.....
sorry
Amanda
