TransFormal 2010 - putting the T back in Katoomba!
Join us for a fun weekend away celebrating transgender diversity. Return to an era of grace, elegance and charm.
TransFormal will be held in the Blue Mountains in the timeless elegance of the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba.
The centerpiece of the weekend will be a formal dinner dance held in the heritage 1886 ballroom . This will have a 3 course buffet meal, plenty of dancing, and lots of opportunities to socialise. The dinner dance will be from 7pm to midnight with a cash bar and night club afterwards for those who want to party on.
On Saturday and Sunday we plan to organise activities both inside and out of the hotel.
The event is intended to be as inclusive as TR – so I hope everyone will find it attractive.
For the girl who has yet to come out in public, the event offers the chance to dress and socialize without leaving the hotel, but with the encouragement and support of others.
Those who are socially active will appreciate the convenient location of the hotel, right on the main street and close to a wealth of fantastic shops, cafes and art galleries.
Tickets to the dinner dance are on sale now for $95 and a wide range of accommodation options from $65 (based on twin share) to $420 for a two bedroom suite - all including breakfast.

Amanda, on the heading to this thread it says May 15, in the text on your post it says May 22. The Trannytix site says May 22 but in the Flagpole thread you confirmed that it was going to be on May 15. Can you please confirm fully as to which weekend this event is on as there are probably a few of us that are now confused?
Peta A.
!
Soz Peta but it was a big confusing week!
On Tuesday I went up to see the hotel - fantastic venue - no problems there - except that they hadn't realised how serious I was about booking up a lot of rooms in the hotel. So their "Its available for the 15th" - turned into a "sorry but I don't think we have enough rooms free on the 15th" - as they had taken a conference booking for that weekend as well.
I tried to hold out (thinking we had been gazumped(?) ) but in the end it was obvious that the 21/22nd would have to be the weekend. I now have a contract with those dates on it so am feeling more certain this is going to be the 'last' significant change.
So my apologies to anyone who started to juggle their work rosters to get the 15th free - I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to organising an event this big - and I'm learning on my feet! Turns out the Carrington is a very popular place...if we didn't book the rooms I know someone else was going to....
I'll put a post out about the event website in a few hours.... till then...
TransFormal is now and always the weekend 21/22nd May

I've just released a promo video for TransFormal - particularly of interest for any girls who don't know Katoomba or haven't seen the grand Carrington Hotel.

Hi Amanda,
Hate be picky but the 21st is a Friday. Is anyone going up for the 2 nights? The main night I'm assuming from your video is the Saturday night and we will be checking out on Sunday the 23rd. Doubt if I would be able to come up until the Saturday morning.

I know I've been a bit over the top with surveys and polls before jumping in the deep end with TransFormal - but I did get a lot of very valuable insights into what people want from the event.
One thing I hear loud and clear is that people are embracing the concept that this is a weekend away - not just an event on a Saturday night.
About half the girls who have shared their plans with me indicate they are coming up on Friday night. That way you get another evening in the mountains and the whole of Saturday to do things.
So there will be a good crowd in the Carrington on Friday night.
I responded to this by block booking the TR:additional floor of 10 rooms for both Friday AND Saturday nights. I know I'm unlikely to fill all the rooms on the Friday night - but I'll be encouraging anyone who can to come up for the two nights for the absolute bargain price of $275 including breakfasts. The TR:additional floor will come on sale on the 16th Februrary and may well sell our in days given the demand I know is out there.
TransFormal tickets will be on sale as soon as I can - just waiting for all the signatures on the contract with the hotel!
But you are right to be picky I should have said the weekend of
21/23rd May. May have to do a bit of video editing
If you can't make the Friday night don't stress - but plan to get up early on the Saturday if you want to get the full TranFormal experience!

Great Promo Amanda!
I notice you're a screen hussy, but I was wondering who was behind the video camera? Looks like you both had an enjoyable day up there in the hills!
As for me, all the changes to the Transformal weekend dates you've made have worked out in my favour! May 21/22/23 are my rostered days for a weekend off work! What great timing!
I can't wait to get back to Katoomba - I think it was 1996 last time I was there!
Can I please request that, as there are close to 700 TR members, can we not have posts in this thread saying you can't come.
Although I know there are only going to be 5 girls at the most who have an acceptable excuse for not turning up lets keep this positive and use the thread to ask questions about the event.
Is it possible to checkin/register at the hotel in your femme name or must you cheeckin under actual (male) name?
I think this will be a fabulous weekend and I am trying to organise to come.
The contract with The Carrington was exchanged today.
And the ticketing website is being put through its final tests.
So in the next few days the tickets will go on sale.
Then on the 16th February accommodation booking at The Carrington will start.
Note that you have to have booked a transFormal ticket BEFORE you can reserve rooms at the special event pricing.
If you are interested in the special TR:additional floor of rooms they are initially going to go on sale for an earlybird price of $240 for the two nights Fri/Sat (That's $120 per night).
That's a real bargain for rooms of this quality right in the venue hotel. But I expect a lot of demand for these rooms.
So don't hold back - as soon as the tickets come on sale get yours and then go to the accommodation section and fill in a booking request for a room.
It will be first come first served, early birds catching worms and any other metaphor that comes to mind.

Jennifer
If you book a TR:additional room through TrannyTix then there is no problem - you will be registered with the hotel in whatever name you give me.
If you fill out the hotel booking form for the other rooms (coming on the 16th) then the girl who will be processing it, Candie, knows all about transgender identities - after all she has prepared a contract with Amanda!
She is expecting the names on the forms to not necessarily match the credit card details. She even removed the MR/MS boxes off the form because they weren't needed.
So don't fake your credit card details - but otherwise come as Jennifer for the entire weekend!
I'm looking to select a DJ for TransFormal.
So if anyone has any recommendations can they please email me on
Amanda@trannyradio.com (don't post here)
The requirements are
- that they can provide a variety of music for 5 hrs,
- have all their own sound gear + good disco lights and
- most importantly they can contract that someone will actually turn up on the night (I don't want any "my car has broken down in Penrith" phone calls on the night!)
TransFormal is not just for NSW girls. This is a trans-Australia event!
About 1/4 of the tickets sold so far have been to interstate girls. Smart girls who realize that to get the bargains you have to book early.
At the moment you can still get cheap return flights flying Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Check Jetstar, Virgin and Tiger on the web and you can travel from Adelaide for $150, Melbourne for $120 and Brisbane for under $160.
We also still have availability on bargain priced accommodation in our hotel including doubles on our party floor for $120 each night, or pair up in a twin share room with ensuite for $108 each per night. Both prices include breakfast. If you move out into nearby accommodation the costs are currently even lower.
Katoomba is easy to get to from Sydney as there is a frequent 2hr train service costing under $15. But with so many cars heading up to the mountains we hope to be able to arrange for our interstate visitors to have a lift up there, and back.
With tickets to the event at $95 that all adds up to an interstate two night break away for about $450. In T-Girl terms that is a bargain not to be missed. Two solid days of socializing, activities, sightseeing, dancing, drinking, eating.
Of course if you can’t get way on Friday we will keep a place for you! Don’t despair, just fly in as soon as you can on Saturday and you won’t miss too much of the party (and you will save a bit too!).
So why not commit to doing something really exciting this weekend? Don’t wait a month only to then find you have missed out on the best deals.

I'd like to announce an exciting addition to the TransFormal weekend
programme.
Hot from his stunning performance at the MechanicalBlack launch
party, DangerBoy has agreed to entertain us all after dinner on
Saturday night. For those who are new to his unique style of magic,
prepare to be amazed!
Danger Boy , a self-confessed professional circus freak, will be
adding to the period charm of TransFormal with a positively insane
display of sideshow magic.
Master of the dark arts and explorer of realm beyond human
experience, Dangerboy and his lovely assistant Ivy bring you a variety
of explosive performances that pay homage to late 1800s Bohemian
cabaret and depression-era circus sideshow.
Gasp as Dangerboy’s assistant tap dances on his stomach in the Iron
Maiden! Wince as he manipulates razor blades with his tongue! Scream
as he selects a random audience member and saws them in half - beware,
it could be you!
If you haven't bought your TransFormal ticket yet don't delay!
The best bargains are disappearing fast and the longer you leave
making your plans the more it will cost you to be part of this unique
experience.
